Calendar for 2006

General Seminar Info
Lodging is part of the deal if you don’t mind bunking party style. It’s really
like doll boot camp or a very long doll pajama party. There are hotels in Jefferson City ,
Boonville and Columbia for those who prefer private accommodations.
Continental breakfast is provided every day. There is a restaurant across the
street that serves breakfast and lunch. Some of the meals are prepared on
the premises and we ask for a donation to cover the expense of the food.

Some of the seminars begin on the evening of the traveling or arrival day.
Because of our remote location and distance from the airport, a day must be
allowed for travel both coming and going. Plan to arrive during the afternoon or
evening the day before the first day of the seminar. Our guests are welcome to stay
overnight after the seminar. Keep this in mind when making your travel plans.
There is a shuttle service from the St. Louis Airport and the Kansas City Airport .
They run every hour from St. Louis and every 2 1/2 hours from Kansas City.
You can book a shuttle on line at <moexpress.com> Parkade Plaza in Columbia is
the drop off and pick up point. We will pick up students there the day before
the seminar and drop them off the day after the seminar. Please e-mail the time you will arrive.

Our aim is to provide many opportunities for learning and advancing in the
Doll Dreamers Guild. If you are interested in coming to the studio in Jamestown
for a particular type of seminar or workshop please let us hear from you.
We can plan according to the dreams of the dreamers to some extent.
Private and semi private sessions are also a possibility. Please call with your ideas and requests.
If you have been to a Seminar and you want to work toward the next level you
may arrange to join us during any scheduled seminar and work on your
own independent projects. The fee is $90 per day of instruction.

May 26th through 29th

Wednesdays Child in Designer Costume

Londie Phillips has been my partner in a lot of special doll projects.
Several of our collaborations have been honored with awards.
Sweet Journey was one such winner. This little ensemble was awarded the 2002
Publics Choice Doty Award in the OOAK Category. On May 26th Londie is
coming to the studio in Jamestown to share her secrets in creating award winning costumes.
We will be creating a similar ensemble to Sweet Journey with buggy and baby
and designer clothes for a 10 inch Allison. Participants will paint Allison’s features as
well as her baby, Itty Bitty, with Dianna. While the heads are firing we will work on a designer
costume with Londie. This is the first time that Londie has come to Jamestown.
She has a lot of expertise to offer in the principles of design. Come join us for this rare opportunity.
The cost of the seminar is $400 including parts for a complete Allison doll and her baby,
Itty Bitty, costume supplies. Buggy and stand. Lodging is also included.

A $100 deposit is required to hold your place in the 3 day seminar.
Call or e mail us to see if there is still room. We accept Visa or Mastercard.

will plan activities together during this event. Some of the members are doing a workshop
on the “Cloth Doll” on Thursday from 2 to 5. Dianna is scheduled to do a program on the

able to display dolls in the Sales Room. More on this later.

July 21st through 23rd
Craft and Hobby Association Show(CHA) Chicago, Illinois
This is not a guild event. It is a trade show that I have been going to for the last 2 years.
It’s a good place to find out what’s new in the thriving craft market. This is where
I discovered Hearty Clay. Last year I discovered La De Da glitz and sticky tape
and Designer canes. I’m recommending it for shops and instructors that want to
expand their repertoire of projects to teach and find wholesale sources for all kinds of things.
It runs 3 days and it’s huge! You can hardly see it all in 3 days.

July 28th through 30th
NIADA Convention Minneapolis, Minnesota
This is a conference for anyone interested in finding out about Artist Dolls. The National Institute
of American Doll Artists has a small conference every summer. Many of the artists attend.
Find out about it at the web site <niada.org> I’m thinking about going this year if
I feel up to it after all the other activities in July. The Artists Show and Sale is on Sunday, the 30th.
If you ‘re within driving distance you might want to come just for that.

August 18th through 20th
Doll and Teddy Bear Expo Washington, D. C.
We are keeping this in mind but have no fixed plans at present.

September 28th through October 1st
Oklahoma City Doll Show
